N'Golo Kante set for £290,000-a-week
Is that what top players get now. Think I've lost the plot.

Ludicrous!

Good luck to him. Comes across as a good egg. And no in the game has a bad word against him. Just a pity he’ playing for that mob.

Wonder if they'll start to play him in his best position now.

How the fuck can he be expected to live on less than that?

Absolutely, she founded the company, she runs it, she's the reason it's so profitable. All this bollocks about it being obscene to take that much money out of a company....she should just leave it in there then? Fucktards.

It's a private company. She can pay herself whatever the fuck she likes. I would.

Kanye did not hold a gun to anyone’s head for his pay and Ms Coates pays herself well but she is the driving force and brains behind her company. It’s people like the Persimmon bloke that need taking to task. His £100M paycheque was outrageously over the top, even his reduced rate as it happens, and money was only made because of Osborne’s right to buy scheme. In addition Persimmon don’t produce a very good product as evidenced by purchaser’s complaints about build quality, workmanship and tardiness in acknowledging faults and rectifying them.

Given the wages going around, I’d rather he got it than most. As far as I can see he earns every penny.

I find Kante's name funnier than anything ever to come out of Big Bang Theory.

To put it into perspective, the five main characters of the Big Bang Theory are paid more than Kante.

In a world where the bird who runs Bet365 is on £5M a week, anything is possible!

Plus in baseball and basketball they play an absolutely massive number of games per season.

Mid-range BAs earn more - or they wouldn't get out of bed to A our B otherwise.

Plus there's far fewer teams in each sport to share the tv/prize money.

It will all go pop at some point. Non-league is becoming more and more popular, and people will not be in a position to pay upwards of £70 a ticket.

I fucking HATE modern-day football

Russ, US sports can afford higher salaries as there's no transfer fees

Re: N'Golo Kante set for 290,000-a-week
It totals £13,920,000 per year. Let's say £14m.

Problem is when you compare this to the US it's small fry.

People like LeBron James and Stephen Curry in the NBA are on three times that.

Mike Trout and Clayton Kershaw in the MLB is on twice that (I appreciate dollars but still a huge gap).

If you look at Forbes highest 100 paid sport stars of 2018 Robinson Cano who plays second baseman for Mariners is on 23.5m dollars a year and he is not even regarded as the best in the league.

So, yes its eye watering, but he is one of the PL's top stars and he is way way off what the worlds top stars earn.

Not sure what my point really is but it does show that, in general, football is behind US sports for pay to top stars.
